Enhanced
Security Tutorial:
Quick, Easy Enrollment
– An Overview
Our new security feature lets you create a
personalized account security checkpoint -- with
your own unique combination of a security image and
a personal phrase. These security measures meet the
guidelines recently mandated by the Federal
Government to strengthen your Internet security.
Enhanced
Security helps prevent ID theft and unauthorized access to your
account in 2 important ways:
- Displays your
personal security
image and personal phrase during login to
confirm website validity:
If you don't see your security image or personal
phrase -- you're on a phony "phishing" site.
Close the website and contact us immediately.
- Allows you to register
your computer(s) with us to help us
recognize your computer during login.
If we are unable to recognize your computer, we
will display a challenge question that must be
answered before login can continue.
To Enroll: Completing the brief, 6-step enrollment process
requires only a small investment of your time (10
minutes or less) but provides immediate, enduring
security and peace of mind.
- Step 1: Enter your
account ID and continue to the
new "Password Page"
.
- Step 2: Enter your
password and choose “enroll now”
or “enroll later”
- Step 3:
Select your own Security Image - For more
choices, click on a Category -- then "Refresh
this List" until you find an image that you wish
-- click on
"Select"
- Step 4: Create your
Personal Phrase- Delete the phrase in the
box and create your own unique phrase.
- Step 5a: Select and answer
three challenge questions.
- Step 5b:
Register your computer.
Note: Do not register a public computer or one
at work that others use. Instead, keep the
computer unregistered and simply answer the
security question when you sign on.
Step 1: Enter your account ID
Step 2: Choose to Enroll
Enter your password, select the “enroll now” option,
and then click the “Login” button to continue.
If
you select the “enroll later” option, you will
bypass the Enhanced Security enrollment process and
access your account information as usual. You will
again be given the opportunity to enroll at your
next login attempt (up to the cut-off date).
Step 3: Select Your Security Image
The “The Enrollment Process” page outlines the steps
involved with Enhanced Security enrollment.
Information found on this page is explained within
this tutorial. Simply click “Continue” to move on.
The “Complete The Enrollment Process” page displays
a randomly selected security image and a randomly
generated personal phrase. We will first explain how
to customize your security image, and then how to
customize your personal phrase.
To personalize your
security image, click the “change security image”
link located below the security image.
You will be taken to the “Change Your Security
Image” page. This page displays links to various
image categories. You may click on your preferred
category or view a collection of images from all
categories by clicking the “all images” link.
Next, select an image by clicking on the “Select
this image” link below the image of your choice.
When you click the link, your chosen image will
replace the previous image. The selected security
image will be shown to you during future login
attempts. In the event that your security image is
not shown, you should immediately stop the login
process and contact your credit union.
 v
Note: When choosing a security
image, be aware that images on any given page are
displayed randomly from a bank of thousands of
images. If you see an image you like, select it
right away. If you logout without officially
selecting the image, you may find that you have to
hunt through pages of images to locate it later.
Step 4: Customize Your Personal Phrase
After you select your new security image, you will
be taken back to the security image and personal
phrase page. This page will now display the security
image you chose.
To customize your personal phrase, move your cursor
to the text box containing the randomly generated
personal phrase.
Delete the phrase, and then type in
a personal phrase of your own that will be easy for
you to recognize later (use letters and numbers only
- no symbols or punctuation marks.)
Click the “Submit” button to set your security image
and personal phrase and continue to the next page.
Step 5a: Select And Answer Your Challenge Questions
The final step of the enrollment process is broken
in two – challenge questions and computer
registration.
-
Challenge questions
provide us important information we can use to
verify your identity if you need to reset your
password online or if we need to increase
authentication during your login process.
- Registration of your computer will help us to
recognize you during future login attempts, which
may allow you to bypass the challenge questions.
The challenge questions are displayed in
three
drop-down menus, each containing several challenge
questions.
To open the drop-down menu, click on the
downward-pointing arrow at the right of each window.
Select one question from each of the drop-down menus
and answer each in the space provided.
Step 5b: Register Your Computer
Before clicking the “enroll” button, you may
register your computer with us. Registration is an
important piece of Enhanced Security that allows our
system to “recognize” login attempts from your
computer. By choosing to register your computer, you
may be able to bypass the additional authentication
of answering a challenge question.
You should only register your personal computer.
Do not register a computer housed
in a public space such as a library or school.
If you do not have a private, personal computer, you
can still access your account, but will be required
to answer one of your challenge questions at login.
The drop-down menu near the bottom of the page
containing two choices:
- “This is a public computer. Don’t register
it.”
- “This is a personal computer. Register it.”
Select the appropriate entry, and then complete the
enrollment process by clicking the “Enroll” button.
If you have followed the steps outlined within this
tutorial, then CONGRATULATIONS
– You are now enrolled in Enhanced Security. Once
completed, you will access your account summary as
usual.
From time to time, you may be asked to provide one
of the answers to your challenge questions. These
answers offer an additional layer of authentication.
One circumstance in which you’ll always be required
to answer a challenge question is when logging in
from an unregistered computer. When challenged, you
will enter the answer to the challenge question and
select whether to register the computer.
You may
register as many computers to your account as you’d
like. You may also register multiple accounts on one
computer.
